  • Provide Staff Appreciation Events
  • Honor Volunteers with an Annual Luncheon
  • Present  PERKS, entertaining and informative programs for members and the public
  • Raise money through monthly used book sales, on-going book sales, and our Gift Shop
  • Provide equipment and services outside the library's budget
  • Support "Vote Libraries"
  • Sponsor Annual "Evening with Friends" fundraisers
  • Compile folders and other items for the Spark Program
  • Partner with Stark Library in Special Community Events such as the Poetry Contests and First Friday Celebrations
  • Prepare packets for the Heritage Seed Project
  • Assist at Author Events by selling the author's books
  • Grant scholarships to library employees working toward a MLIS degree
  • Provide Tri-County High School Academic Challenge with medals and meals
  • Act as advocates and ambassadors for the Stark Library

Our Past: FOL was incorporated on July 17, 1979. The FOL Statement of Purpose said, "The corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, literary, and education purposes."

Throughout our history, funds have been

raised through:

  • Used Book Sales
  • Contributions
  • Life Memberships
  • Annual Memberships
  • Social Events
  • Gift Shop Sales

Our Goals:

  • To expand existing activities
  • To increase our membership
  • To support new Library projects
  • To explore new fundraising projects
  • To provide programs supporting a life-long love of learning
  • To stimulate community interest and involvement in using Library services
  • To promote literacy

Our Future: Our future depends on current members and new memberships. By joining the Friends, you indicate your support of the Stark Library, a vital community resource. Volunteer opportunities are available if you desire.

Thank You

So many opportunities for you to get involved! Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporting friends like you.
