How We're Helping

The Friends of the Stark Library is a dedicated organization whose mission is to assist and promote the Stark Library through volunteer efforts. FOL is making a difference in our community as we:

Operate our Gift Shop in the Main Library, selling a selection of used books and other literary-themed gifts
Raise money through monthly used book sales and on-going book sales
Underwrite Stark Library staff in-service day
Beautify the library entrance with a planter of attractive plants
Provide Staff Appreciation Events
Honor Volunteers with an Annual Luncheon
Present PERKS, entertaining and informative programs for members and the public
Provide equipment and services outside the library's budget
Support "Vote Libraries"
Sponsor Annual "Evening with Friends" fundraisers
Compile folders and other items for the Spark Program
Partner with Stark Library in Special Community Events such as the Poetry Contests and First Friday Celebrations
Prepare packets for the Heritage Seed Project
Assist at Author Events by selling the author's books
Grant scholarships to library employees working toward a MLIS degree
Provide Tri-County High School Academic Challenge with medals and meals
Act as advocates and ambassadors for the Stark Library

Our Past: FOL was incorporated on July 17, 1979. The FOL Statement of Purpose said, "The corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, literary, and education purposes."
